Day 48 - 50 of Bible in 365

Well I am up to Numbers 22... and it seems like the plot keep thickening!

The last couple days this is what I have read about ::  The Israelites and moving along - and not very happy about it either.  And it seems to me that they are not a very "Liked" community.  As they have continued on their Journey they have asked several communities for the freedom to just "walk" through their land... nothing more.  But both times they were declined, and when they pursued it more they were attacked.  So ... keep that in mind...
Then, there was more about the duties of Priest and Levittes... wow... again - as leaders for God the status of your life is at a much higher level than those who are following!  The Lord said something to them that really struck me.  He told the leaders that they will have NO inheritance... but that their inheritance is the Lord.

I started thinking about how the Lord has been mirroring things we are reading now to the cross.  How our life is like the life of the Israelites.  We are not liked by those who do not understand us, and we surely have higher standards.  And the inheritance that we are all living for is simply the Lord.

But on the other hand they sure do make the Lord mad... whoooo....  in Chapter 19 they start grumbling again to Moses about their situation... why are they in a desert with no water.... why this... why that... they should just be dead.  So... Moses goes to God on their behalf... and God is not pleased about this.  In fact this is why Moses and Aaron did not get to see the promise land... they did not trust God.  So the Israelites are now satisfied FOR THE MOMENT!  I'd get mad at them too if I were God.

So I left off at Aaron's death - it didn't say if he died of old age or???  Does anyone know?

The story continues!
