Day 9 of Bible in 365

So I usually do this post first thing in the morning but this morning was a little off for me!  Some quiet time... a couple cups of coffee... and I am feeling great!

Back to the Bible!!!  Today was all about Rebekah, Jacob, and Esau... Ohhhhh Rebekah...  Sometimes I think we do not understand the power we have as women and how to channel it the correct way.  Jacob and Esau are twins (Abraham's Grandchildren) - but Esau came out first so he is the oldest he gets the blessing, the birthright ... EVERYTHING... Well.. he was supposed to!  Jacob was sneaky and conned Esau out of his birthright... so Jacob already envied his brother.  Well, their father was sick, he was preparing to give the blessing to his oldest... Esau.  This is where Rebekah jumps in... why do women do this?  I see it allllll the time that women bud in when they shouldn't (by Women I mean me too!).  So Rebekah pulls Jacob aside and plants the seed in his mind to steel Esau's blessing.  They succeeded and left Esau with nothing.  Come on.... could you image what would have happened if Rebekah would have shown integrity in that situation?  The whole world was shaped by that one act of manipulation.  We women have skills... ways to shape our future, the trick is knowing when to jump in and knowing when to spectate.
Another thing I noticed about this read was Isaac followed in his fathers footsteps in an area that should not have been followed.  Do you remember Abraham when he went knew places would lie about Sarah being his wife and say she was his sister?  Well that ALWAYS got him in trouble because the truth would always come out!  So, here is Isaac repeating the same thing, and again... he got caught and it was pointless.
I feel there is something generational to point out there.  There are a lot of good things that get passed on through the generations, talents, attitudes, strength and more... but here you see the bad side, the fear that both Abraham and Isaac had for their own life so they were willing to compromise their relationship with their wives and God to protect themselves.  Very sad...They were compromising everything we believe life is... Life is Love.. love of others, love of GOD!  But it is pretty hard not to do that isn't it...  my pride sure does get hurt when I have to sacrifice something like that.... but on the other hand it sure does remind me how much I need Him in my life...

Until tomorrow!!!
