Day 18 of Bible in 365

Last night my teething toddler decided sleep was not necessary, so I was able to get my reading done at 4am this morning - Thank you baby! lol

So at O Dark 30 I read about Moses - this story is one that would actually keep me awake.  Jacob's family was multiplying by the numbers and becoming so large that the king was getting nervous of them over turning on the Egyptians.  So.. the answer would OF COURSE be enslaving them!  He had the Israelites working extremely hard but they were STILL multiplying!  Remember the promise to Abraham - I will make you the father of many - your descendants will be larger than the number of stars!  And that is exactly what was happening!

So the next ... obviously correct,  God fearing answer for the Egyptian King would be to kill all the boy babies!  Or course.  Even that plan wasn't working.  The Israelites were finding ways around it.  Moses was born and he ended up in the Nile just like the King had asked... except Moses was in a basket ... and was discovered by the Kings own daughter!  lol the Kings plan back fired... now he had an Hebrew in his own household cause his daughter took Moses as her own.

So where we leave off today is Exodus 4 - by now Moses beat up an Egyptian... ran away from them... saw God in a burning bush (that is how God always speaks to me too... I wish!) and is now getting the courage to go back to the Israelites that are in bondage.

This story to me brings up the entire issue of predestination and freewill.  Moses had a destiny to be where he was, yet his mother had the choice to put him in the Nile... They work hand in hand - it was always destined that Moses would be the deliverer of the Hebrews, but it was by the freewill of himself and those around him that got him there!!  Thankfully God knows my ending and I don't!

This is so exciting... I would have read more this morning if it wasn't 4am!
