Day 17 of Bible in 365

Today in my read sadly enough Jacob died.  Before he died he blessed all his sons .. ALL of them.  I believe there were 12 which became the 12 tribes of Israel.  As I was reading the blessings, I was just thinking of how today in our culture how strange that seems.  That before your father died you had to be blessed.  Some people in today's culture do not even know their fathers at the time of their death.  And what would it feel like to be one of 12 sons being blessed???  There has got to be feelings of jealousy, anger, frustration, envy... I mean they were still human.  One son gets a horrible blessing on what is to come in his life, while another... say Joseph... gets a blessing about how great he will be... as if there wasn't enough conflict between those brothers, now they needed to argue about the blessing they received!
I loved reading Genesis and feeling like I now know a little bit more about how it was all started.  I read the intro to Exodus this morning, and it is going to be about Moses and the redemption of the Hebrews out of Egypt.  I new that the Hebrews become slaves in Egypt, but during Genesis when Josephs family was coming to Egypt to be with him and to survive the famine, I guess I didn't put two and two together.  Hmmm

Well, I don't have anything real inspirational from today's read, today was like a history lesson!

Until Tomorrow Exodus Chapter 1
